Elijah Prouty, Richard Prouty, and Francis Prouty, were subscribers on November 12th, 1770 of the First Church in Battleboro (Cabot, 73)

The milita of Cumberland Co. Vt. was divided into the northern and southern regiments. The officers of the southern regiment received their commissions from the Council of Appointment on 18th August, 1778.
Richard Prouty was Quartermaster of the Southern Regiment under Col. Eleazer Patterson (Hall 773-3).
