Octogenarian Dies as Fire Sweeps Home
HIs faltering struggles unavailing against the ravages of smoke and flame, David McIntyre, 81-year-old resident of a home at the rear of 2427 H street, died Friday night in his blazing kitchen as he fought to make his way into the open.
Firemen who found the aged man's body concluded the octogenarian had made his way from the bedroom into the kitchen, only to fall there, overcome by smoke, only a few feet from safety.
Mr. McIntyre had been reported in ill health most of the winter.
Damage to the kitchen and other parts of the house is estimated at $750.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. McIntyre are pending at Flickinger-Digier, awaiting word from the victim's only know relative, a niece, Irene Duval of Los Altos.

McINTYRE, DAVID - Funeral services for David McIntyre, 81, who died accidentally Friday, were held today at Union Cemetery with Flickinger-Digier Chapel in charge of arrangements. Surviving are his niece, Mrs. Irene Duval, and grand-nephew, Fred Duval of Los Altos.
