District No. 2 had employed Miss Ellen Lavery to teach, but just before the opening of the school, she notified the Board that she was going to Colorado and could not fill the appointment. Miss Guizlo was then selected, but was taken sick. The board then appointed Miss Vanatta, who opened the school on Monday last.

Mrs. L. E. Duval was taken very suddenly sick last Wednesday night, when her right side was partially palalyzed, but we are glad to be able to say that at this time she has partially recovered the use of her limb and arm, and it is hoped she will soon be in her usual health.

Mrs. Hattie Guizlo, with her two little daughters, arrived here a few days ago from Maxwell, this state, and are at the home of her sister, Mrs. L. E. Duval, being called here on account of Mrs. Duval's illness. Mr. Guizlo is agent for the Santa Fe at Maxwell.
