FUNERAL SATURDAY FOR MENO SIEBELSServices for Meno Siebels, 67,were held Saturday, March 26, at 2 p.m. at the SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran church. Rev. Paul C. Kenyon officiated.
Meno Garret Siebels died at his home in Monticello Thursday morning, March 24, following confinement since a stroke in 1952. He was born near Monticello Oct. 13, 1887, the son of John and Inse Margareta Harms Siebels. When a small child he moved with his parents to a farm in Castle Grove township and attended the township schools.
MARRIED IN 1916
March 2, 1916, he was married to Fannie Schaefer and the couple continued to farm in Castle Grove until six years ago when they moved to their present home in Monticello. He had been a member of SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran church his entire life.
Survivors are his wife, Fannie: one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Irene) Mardorf of Monticello; two sons, Lawrence of Mechanicsville and Edward of Monticello; eight grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Henry Lubben of Cedar Rapids, and one brother, Siebelt Siebels of Anamosa. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Augusta, and three brothers and one sister.
CASKET BEARERS
Casket bearers included George Seehusen, Clarence Stadtmueller, Robert Rickels, Ray O. Kromminga, F. H. Kromminga and Richard Kromminga. Burial was at Prairie Hill cemetery. [The Monticello Express, March 28, 1955]
