Abial Austin

(1703 - Aft 1790)

The Austin homestead was included in Methuen at the incorporation of the town, December 8, 1725, and in 1741, by the readjustment of the province line, it was included in Salem, New Hampshire. Abiel and his wife Sarah had ten children and lived in Methuen and Salem. Abiel was still living in Salem, aged 86, in 1790 (Stearns 293).

Military

Abiel enlisted from Haverhill into John Lovewell's militia company. He was engaged in the fight but was not wounded (Stearns 294).
