Death

Mr. Harm Dirks, a respected and widely known resident of Wayne township, died at his home four miles south of Monticello, last Saturday forenoon of dropsy, at the age of 68 years, 4 months. The funeral services were conducted at the Wayne Lutheran church, last Monday 15 11 o'clock, by Rev. C. Mardorf. They were attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends. Mr. Dirks was a fine old gentleman and had many warm friends. He was strictly honorable in his dealings and was highly regarded throughout the community. He is survived by his widow, one son and four daughters. The children are Gerd Dirks, Mrs. Fred Poppe, Mrs. Fritz Doden, Mrs. Harm Fechtman and Mrs. Fritz Schutz. Mr. Dirks was born in Hanover, Germany. Wayne Township where he became the owner of a fine farm and reared a family of good children, who will always do honor to his memory.
