GEORGE LOVEJOY SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Funeral service, from the Elks hall, Petaluma, are scheduled for this afternoon for George P. Lovejoy, Petaluma postmaster for nine years and long a prominent figure in civic and political circles, who died Saturday night in his Petaluma home after a long and lingering illness. Born in Petaluma 58 years ago, Lovejoy was active in the republican party and for years was a member of the county central committee. Until his death he worked unceasingly for the benefit of Petaluma and was largely responsible for the construction of the new post office building recently erected. Lovejoy was stricken last December and his condition gradually grew worse until complications set in Friday night and he passed into a coma from which he never rallied.
