Death

Mary E. Lovejoy Enters Rest
At the family home on Sixth street where she had spent most of her life, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Lovejoy, one of the beloved pioneer women of this city, entered rest Thursday morning at 7 o'clock, and with her demise a life of usefulness is closed.
Although her condition was considered serious, and little hope given for her recover, the death came as a grievous shock to those who knew and loved her. She died peacefully in the presence of her children who had gathered at the bedside.
Death was caused from heart trouble from which she was a sufferer for years. Mrs. Lovejoy had been ill only a few days when death claimed her.
Distinguished for her gentle courtesy and gracious kindliness, Mrs. Lovejoy was beloved by countless friends and made life better worth living. She died full of years and rich in treasures accomplished and will be widely and poignantly missed.
Born in Freemont, Ohio, sixty-eight years ago, she spent her younger life in that city, where she married Dr. G. E. Lovejoy in 1858. Some years after the marriage the couple came west, locating in Petaluma, where Dr. Lovejoy practiced dentistry and where the family have since resided. Dr. Lovejoy died January 14, 1906. Mrs. Lovejoy was the mother of Dr. Frank Lovejoy, Dr. G. P. Lovejoy, Mrs. Jennie Spotswood, Petaluma; and Mrs. N. Oscar Stafford of Los Angeles. Besides her children there are seven grandchildren. Her aged mother is alive and resides in Freemont, Ohio, with three brothers and a sister.
Mrs. Lovejoy was a prominent member of the Woman's Relief Corps. being one of the most active workers and the members will attend the funeral in a body on Friday. The deceased was also past worthy matron of the Morning Star Chapter, O. E. S., having been affiliated with the chapter for many years. She was also a member of the Woman's Club.
The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family home, No. 9 Sixth street. Rev. W. B. Belliss of the St. John's Episcopal church will officiate and the burial will be in the family plot in Cypress Hill cemetery.

A Mother At Rest
The funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs. Mary Lovejoy were conducted Friday afternoon at the late home on Sixth street and were largely attended by relatives and friends of the late pioneer. Rev. Belliss, of the St. John's Episcopal church read the funeral ritual and offered strength and hope to the bereaved ones.
At the vault in Cypress Hill where the body was placed temporarily the services were conducted my Morning Star Chapter, O. E. S., in impressive manner. The floral tributes were many and beautiful and lovingly expressed the regard in which the late Mrs. Lovejoy was held by those who knew her. 
The following friends acted as pallbearers: P. J. Blim, A. W. Horwege, Mr. Ray, Frank Snow, Dr. Thomas Maclay and E. M Worthington.
