Ephraim Garrason

(Abt 1794 - Bef 1829)

Ephraim Garrason (b Duplin Co c 1794; d there by 1829) m Margaret Carr (b 2 Sep 1793; d 2 Jun 1844) d/o Wm Carr. She was bur at Rockfish Presbyterian Church. Her marker is one of the few very old Garrason markers in the county. This Ephraim was definitely Thomas' son; he was not the unborn child mentioned in the 1792 will of Thomas' brother Ephraim. It is easy to prove that. [1] Ephraim'swill left a 50 acre tract to his daughter Mary, except if his widow's unborn child was male he was to be named Ephraim and he was to receive that 50 acres instead of Mary. However, in 1816 Mary sold that acreage to Thomas Garrason (b.1764), an act that proved she had not been displaced by a posthumous brother.[2] In 1829 the orphaned daughters of this younger Ephraim received and divided his share of the estate of his deceased brother David B. Garrason. That proves they were nieces of David and granddaughters of Thomas (b. 1764).
