Death
Charles Robert Furr, 54, of 59 Hill Street, Salisbury, died suddenly this morning shortly after 5:30 o'clock. He was stricken at his home and was dead on arrival at Rowan Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock in the Summersett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Grady L. Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in City Memorial Park. The body will be removed to the residence at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning and will then be returned to the chapel at 10 o'clock Wednesday. Mr. Furr was born in Stanly County on October 10, 1908, son of the late Jesse and Elizabeth Thompson Furr. He was educated in the schools of Stanly County. He served in the Marine Corps for four years and attended the Baptist Church. He had been employed in the Cone Mills here for 28 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Vealer Gryder Furr, to whom he was married in 1933; two half - brothers, Albert and Henry Furr, both of Pineville.The Salisbury Post, Salisbury, North Carolina, March 19, 1962
