FORT MILL — A 14-year-old boy was killed accidentally at his home yesterday afternoon by a shotgun blast, police reported today. Rufus Lee Furr Jr. died instantly when he discharged a 12-gauge shotgun in the bedroom of his home on Rt. 1. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Furr Sr. Investigating officers reported the victim’s younger brother, Danny, said Furr was removing the gun from a rack when it fell, firing one barrel of the double-barreled weapon. Young Furr was in the seventh grade at A. O. Jones School and attended Flint Hill Baptist Church. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 250. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday from Flint Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. W. J. Nolan Jr. and Rev. C. W. Brockwell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Survivors in addition to the parents and brother include four sisters, Rita Gean, Maria, Betty, and Rebecca Furr, all of the home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Furr of Fort Mill; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Collins of Pineville, N.
