John Keith
(1785 - 10 Oct 1855)
Benny R. Keith 13 October 1987
John Keith born 1785, Married Rachael Arnold in 1803, Minister was Benjamin Talbot who is buried in Hazel Creek Cemetery 8 miles south of Greenville, Ky. John Keith III and wife Hannah were charter members of this church. I found this in the History of Muhlenberg County Babtist Assoc. I had the chance to visit the Hazel Creek Babtist Church in June of 1986. The only thing still left of the original property is the steps where the ladies got off and on their horses. The original church was a log structure which was replaced in 1850. Some of the family went into Indiana shortly after 1800, but John Jr. didn't go until about 1830, settling in Pike County, Jefferson Township near Winslow. As near as I can tell, most if not all of John's children went to Missouri just before or after their father died in 1856. Silas went to Plemicot County then John is found in Butler County in 1856. I found this in land records where they settled their father's land records in Pike County Indiana. I used the deed to settle the estate.
Benny Keith was mistaken about John Keith III. It was the father and mother of John Keith 1785, John A. Keith 1745 that founded the church and not his son. Benny missed the generation of John A. Keith.
