Individual Details
Wilson Monroe Lenox
(1843 - 1869)
I found something really interesting in the 01 July 1861 issue of the Rolla Express Newspaper at the Missouri Digital Heritage web site (http://cdm.sos.mo.gov/)...
Take Notice.
WHEREAS, my son Wilson M. Lenox, a mi
nor, being under 21 years of age, has wil-
fully, disobediently and without my consent left
the parental roof, public notice is hereby given
that I will enforce the law against any and all
persons who may deal with or harbor said minor
and that all persons are hereby forb'dden to har-
bor or trust him on my account, as I will pay no
debts of his contraction. Said boy is about 18
years old. HAMILTON LENOX.
This really is an odd twist on the story of the Prodigal Son. This father instead of letting his son go tried to force his son to return home by making it impossible for him to find a job or another place to live. Evidently he was unsuccessful as the son joined the Confederate army about this time. Maybe that's what the father was trying to prevent him from doing.
Anyway, this newspaper notice confirms the 1843 date since that would make him 18 in 1861.
