Individual Details
Hamilton Lenox
(Calc 1806 - 1866)
It is very confusing, because in the Cowan/Lenox and Next of Kin book this Hamilton is referred to as "Ole Ham", and then it is later stated that the Hamilton Lenox that is the son of John Lenox (this Hamilton's brother) was called "Old Ham". So, I think that some of the family memories have gotten these too people confused.
Anyway, the Cowan/Lenox book says that this Hamilton fought on the Confederate side and eventually had to flee to Arkansas. I did find a record of a Confederate named Hamilton Lenox who escaped Rolla and it was later given in evidence that John Lenox and another man who were in the Confederate Coleman's camp in Arkansas had discussed the escape plans before it took place.
