Don Bonney's notes show birthplace in Kentucky, but I don't know where this came from. Maybe there was conflicting information in Pauline's notes. Anyway, the 1870 Reynolds County census lists Missouri as his birthplace.
The surname and given names are reversed on my copy of the census, which is a typed transcription. I don't know if it appears that way on the original or not.
