Another entry in Ancestral file shows her as Mary Stallcop b abt 1695.She married John Cornelius VandeVer 14 Jan 1714 in New Castle Co., Del.She is daughter of Peter & Katherine Peterson. Her sister Christina wasmarried to Ericus Tobias Bjork.
Appears in the will of father dated 3 Sep 1709 New Castle Del.
Family records of Karen W. Denhalter (West Point, Ut 84015 Pg 21 EarlJones "The Stalcup Family History 1641-1987 Vol I") states she was bornFeb 1696 in New Castle Co Del. She married Johan Van de Ver at OldSwedes Church on Jan. 14, 1714. In June of that year she and her husbandwent to Sweden with Rev. Eric Biork. Johan died in Sweden. Maria marriedHans Smidt in Sweden by 1720 and returned to Delaware. Hans Smidt diedin 1753. Maria preceded him in death on 19 Nov. 1750 (-pg 196
Accompanied her brother-in-law, Provost Biork, to Sweden in 1714, wasmarried at Fahlun to Hatmaker Hans Smidt, and came back here with him in1722 .
In the book History of the Original Settlements on the Delaware by Ferrisis a list of some of the oldest stones in the church yard. Among them isthe following: "In memory of Mary Smidt. She was born ye 15th of March,1697. She went to Sweden in 1714, and returned in 1721. She departedthis life ye
19th of Nov'r, 1750."
