Katherine was the oldest child of Vaclav (aka Wenzel) and Elizabeth Kodadek Skluzacek. She was born on April 19, 1872, in Helena Township just north of New Prague, Minnesota.
She joined the School Sisters of St. Francis and took the name "Sister Mary Wenceslaus". She died at the young age of 29.
Later, her future sister, Christina, also would join the School Sisters of St. Francis and take the same name, Sister Mary Wenceslaus.
New Prague Times – March 7, 1901:
Just before going to press we have learned of the death of Sister Francis Wenceslaus, at Protiven, Ia. She is a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Skluzacek of this place. The remains will be ground here for interment. She died Wednesday and the funeral will be held tomorrow from the St. Wenceslaus Catholic church.
