Emma is Daniel's daughter. Maria and William are William's children. He d 10 Feb 1854 in Danvers (3040). He was a shoe manufacture and farmer (3041). Daniel inherited from his father the farm now known as the "General Putnam" house. There the general was born and the room today is in many respects unchanged, although the outside of the house is much altered. The old road passed by what is now the back of the house and by the huge willow was a running brook.
The estate was owned by his daughter, Susan Putnam. The state took a large part of the original farm, when the asylum was erected, yet today (1890) the farm is one of the best cultivated in Danvers. MA.
Daniel Putnam was a shoe manufacture and farmer, He representative to general Court in 1811-17-19, and often selectman.
His son Allen wrote of his father's home:"Ours was a home of industry, Harmony, and contentment, burdened by neither poverty nor riches. Morality and religion was constantly incaleated by both precept and example. Both parents lived the life of the righteous and their children have reason to cherish most fond affection and reverence for them both, and to be grateful for the careful training they received."
