David Putnam and brother, Caleb Putnam, left Sutton and settled in Croyden, NH. Croyden was settled by families from Grafton and Sutton. David was selectman for seven years 1781-1796 and several other town offices. He was a man of great industry, and of a rugged constitution. His health was as usual on the day of his death.
He served in the Rev army previous to his settling in Croyden.

David Putnam was selectman seven years between 1781 and 1796; tythingman, 1787-9; moderator, 1793 and 1796; surveyor of highways, etc, auditor, 1794 and 1804. He was a man of great industry, and of a rugged constitution. His health was as usual on the day of his death.
