Biography

Though frequently seen, that Margaret, wife of John Tidd, was a Margaret Greenleaf appears to be without primary source documentation. Dawes-Gates gives her name as Margaret _________[1], Anderson's Great Migration Directory does not mention the wife of John Tidd (but does give Hertfordshire as a point or origin), Mary Holman in the Stevens-Miller Ancestry gives her as Margaret __________ and gives the Tidd family as probably originating Hertfordshire with John and Margaret marrying about 1614.[2] Torrey gives her as Margaret [Greenleaf?] stating the marriage had occurred by 1621.[3]
The Tidd family was resident in Charlestown, Massachusetts Bay by 1637. Their date of arrival and the ship of sailing are unknown. On April 23, 1638 the Tidd family received Lot No 86 in Charlestown (in the part later becoming Malden).[1][4][5]
Margaret passed away in 1651 at Woburn, Massachusetts Bay.[6]
Children[1]
Samuel
Mary
Elizabeth
Hannah
John Tidd (also seen Todd) b abt 1618-19Research Notes

Dawes-Gates gives the following children stating birth order is unknown and all born in England: Samuel, Hannah, Mary, Elizabeth, John (b est 1618-19)
Check for her records in Saffron, Walden, England. John Tidd and William Savil sailed from Yarmouth, Isle of Wight and arrived in Charlestown in 1637. NOTE: these records refer to the son John Tidd who sailed on the Mary Anne of Yarmouth as servant age 19 of Samuel Greenfield. See Dawes-Gates p 598.
Suggested edit (by whom?): Bio suggests that daughter Hannah may have a 1629 birthdate, but her records show that birthdate no later than 1622; the latter would fit better with her marriage date of 1642 (p.s. records also show her death 1650 in Braintree, Norfolk, MA).

Anderson seems to indicate Mary Tidd's place of origin is Hertfordshire. Dawes-Gates gives Margaret's maiden name as Unknown. Seems like a fresh look by managers for source material would help with seeing improvements in the future. Thanks to all that are working these surnames.
