Lena Olava Grove Brendal, daughter of Olaus Olson Grove and Ragnhild Gilbertson, was born May 6, 1880 in Barsness Township.
Education: Attended school in District 35; St. Cloud Normal; Glenwood Academy; School of Agriculture U. of MN; graduated from the American School of Home Economics, Chicago in 1925. Taught rural school in Pope County intermittently while attending school. Was married to John Matt Brendal June 25, 1904.
Residence; Minneapolis 2 years; Decorah, IA 1 year; Baltimore MD 2 years; Swanville, MN 2 years; Lake Park, MN 4 years; Perham, MN 3 years, Hallock 28 yrs.
Activities: A long list of activities which include Fed. Of Women’s Club work, Dept. of Adult Education, Dept. of Public Welfare, Dept. of Rural Cooperation F. W. C., Kittson Co. Home& Community Chairman, University Extension, coaching 4-H club work, and employed as Secretary of the Kittson Memorial Hospital 6 years (member of the hospital board of directors 18 years). Employed as executive secretary of Kittson Co. Welfare.
