John Dodge and his wife Margery[1] had, in Somersetshire, England:
William Dodge, came to Salem in 1629, d. between 1685 and 1692. A deposition of William Dodge, made in February, 1678/9, says "aged about 70 years." Another deposition made by the same, 28th September, 1630, says, "aged about 76 years." The latter is believed to be the more correct. Hence, his birth may have been as early as 1604.[2]

Other than vital records, what are the other contemporaneous records by which her maiden name, parentage/ancestry are known. Are there wills or deeds?

posted Jul 07, 2019 by Isaac TaylorIsaac TaylorHello profile managers,
Can we better organize the blob of unstructured info at the bottom of the profile?
It's either SUPER important (and needs to be included in her name and ancestry, her parents need to be created etc.); or, it's wrong, and shouldn't be here on her bio page confusing people. Right now it's unclear which. If it's work in progress / research notes, could we put it into a section labelled as such and warn people not to assume it's true info?
Questions, at first glance?
1) Why Bridges?
2) Why Whyte?
3) Why NOT Ludlowe? Is the implication that her mother's maiden name was Bridges and she married into the Ludlowes? If so, she ought to be easy to identify. But, I can't find any whiff of them online, other than copy-and-paste type replication of the same information and spellings without any more sourcing or detail. Suspicious.
4) Why "Dorsetshire" but not "Somersetshire?" Minor inconsistency.
5) Why is her birthdate not uncertain? How can we know when she was born, if we don't know who she is?
6) How can we know where she was born, if we don't know who her parents are?
7) Why are we listing random GEDs and Geni links as sources? Either we have contemporary primary sources, or professional-quality secondary sources... or we don't. Can we remove all the tertiary non-source links, after reviewing them carefully for any new (sourced) info that's currently missing from this profile?
8) Has anyone been able to access the parish registers referred to (but not cited with any identifying details) in that Dodge Family website? That could help! Some of the other people on that page look to have credible contemporary sourcing.
9) Is anyone here related to that English Dodge researcher, RIP?

Bio and Sources state she is the daughter of Thomas Whyte Jr. b.1553 Dymock, Gloucestershire, England and d. 14 June 1604 in Mickleton, Gloucestershire, England and Jone Bridges Ludlowe about 1555 England - d.
