Captaon John Gardner
Son of Thomas Gardner (906) and Margaret Frier. Born in England. Married Priscilla Grafton, daughter of Joseph Grafton of Salem, ** 20 Feb 1654. Came from Salem to Nantucket with his brother Richard in 1666, and received a large grant of land in the northern part of the island for inaugurating new commercial enterprises. The gravestone of Capt John Gardner can still be seen near Maxey's Pond.
** The dates of marriage were probably earlier.
