James "Jim" William Long, 62, of Cresco, IA passed away at the Regional Health Services of Howard County on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Cresco, IA. Burial was in the Howard Center Cemetery in rural Cresco, IA
Jim was born May 29, 1944 to James "Bud" and Ada (Beaston) Long in Cresco, IA. He was baptized at United Methodist Church in Cresco, and confirmed in Waterloo. He attended school at both Cresco and Waterloo. He was united in marriage to Violet (Schlitter) Bugenhagen on November 17, 1990. Jim had six children and 3 step-children, Kevin Long of Waterloo, Joe (Heather) Long of Waterloo, Jennifer (Kevin) White of TN, Kim (Robbie) Brady of Nashua, Buddy (Tina) Geweke of Jesup, Shawn (Curtis) Davis of Plainfield, Dale Bugenhagen of Luana, Cheryl (Charlie) Wagner of Monona, and Brian Bugenhagen of Muscatine.
Jim worked as a welder for many years at various places. He enjoyed spending time building 1/64th scale toys and painting toy tractors and going to toy shows with Vi. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Vi, his mother Ada, his children, grandchildren, brother Michael (Beverly) Long of Waterloo, sister Kathy Sue (Wayne) Hooper of FL, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father James, and aunts and uncles.
