Marie was alive in 1885 but not 1895. In 1895 John's sister, Lizzie is living with him with 2 children. John age 12 and Louise age 3. If Marie died in 1886 then Louise who was born in 1891 was not her child.

I think he married twice1885 Census his wife was Mary
in 1890 he married Mary Went on 4 Nov 1890. (Minn cert 29295027). (There is a record in St Mary's church records for Joannem Jaeger married to Mariam Went on 1890/11/04 ( 4 Nov 1890)) She died in childbirth with daughter Louise on 2 Oct 1891(the gravestone for Mary says "Maria Aug 18, 1873 - Oct 2, 1891"). Louise was born on 27 Sept 1891.
The first wife also named Mary (1885 MN State Census) died 13 June 1886 (There is a record: St Mary's Church Bapt, Marr, Death p 252: Maria Jaeger died 1886/06/13 spouse Joannis Jaeger age 26 years). This is the wife in the 1885 census. They were married before 1882 and had two children John (born 1882) and Mary (born 1884).
There is a Maria Yaeger and child buried in Calvary Cemetery (Sect 5, Row A, Grave 39 - Old Cemetery) who is next to Anna Yaeger and child (Sect5, Row 5, Grave 37 - Old Cemetery). I am pretty confident that Anna Yaeger was Adam''s 1st wife and is buried with son John aged about 7 months and Maria is John's 1st wife and is buried with daughter Mary.
There is a record that John Yaeger married Mary Wulotz on 4 Nov 1880 in Stearns County. Cert # 28006693. She is in the 1870 Cenus in St Joseph with her parents They were all born in Austria. In the 1900 census with John Yager and his two children son John A is listed as his mother being born in Austria.
