John Earl Huntington was born at Definance, Iowa, Oct. 14, 1886, and passed away July 22, 1928, at the Northern Pacific Hospital in St. Paul. Earl had been in poor health for some time but through all of his illness he would never give up nor would he go to the hospital for treatment at first as he would always just keep going on with his work regardless of the persuasions to take medical aid. He however, went to the N.P. Hospital and was there three weeks and all that medical aid could do was done but proved unavailing.

Earl was an honest upright young man and believed in fair dealings which endeared him to all his associates. He was left an orphan at an early age, his mother having died when he was very young. He and his father and sister went to California where it was hoped his father's health would improve but at the age of 12 he was left an orphan. So the two children came alone from California to Iowa where they stayed with relatives and in 1907 he came to Big Lake, which place has since been his home. He was married a few years ago to Miss Pearl Putnam, daughter of Postmaster Putnam and wife. They own a nice residence in Fair Oaks addition. Earl was a very good neighbor, a kind and devoted husband and a sincere friend. He was a member of the fire department, the local Macabee lodge and the Order of the Railroad Trainmen. He is survived by his wife, one sister, Mrs. George Hudson of Forada, [Douglas County] Minn., and other relatives and a host of friends. The memory of Earl will linger long in the hearts of his many firends here at Big Lake.

Rev. P.R. Waller had charge of the funeral which was held from the Union church at 2 o'clock last Tuesday. He spoke very fittingly of the departed one and words of comfort to the bereaved. Rev. and Mrs. Waller sang three hymns. Interment was in Big Lake Cemetery. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. Sincerest sympathy is extended [to] the family.
