Individual Details

Alfred Stuart

(23 Nov 1825 - Bef 1900)

In 1850 Alfred is married to Roseann and living in China, Kennebec Co, ME with his father. Little Ada is 4 months old. In 1857 Minnesota census they are living in Monticello township of Wright County. It is thought they came to Minnesota between 1855 and 1857. He continued to live in Monticello township and farm for the rest of his life. I am not sure when he died. The last census information on him that I found is 1885. Just Alfred and Roseanne are listed at that time, all of the children having married or moved out. His wife Rosanne is a widow in 1900 living with James and his new wife in Bellevue twp of Morrison County which is part of Royalton village or close to it. She was 70 years old at the time.
Son Fred was also married and living in Little Falls of Morrison County in 1900. I am not sure when the family moved to Morrison County.
Alfred was born 23 Nov 1825 in China, Maine. to Joseph and Susan Chadwick Stuart. Sometimes the name is spelled Stewart and sometimes Stuart. It seems that Alfred and his sons used Stuart. Alfred married Roseanna Lord on 7 Dec 1849 in Maine...probably in or near China, ME. They had 7 children, four are living in 1900.
