W. D. Leonard died in this villtge [sic] on Tuesday morning June 23d, aged 68 years, 4 months and 11 days. He was born in Burns, Allegany county New York. He moved with his parents to Wisconsin when he was 9 years of age where he resided eleven years. In May 1855, he came to Minnesota and took a claim in Buffalo where he lived until four years ago when he moved to this village where he has resided ever since. In November 1859, he was married to Hannah E. Hatch. One son, Hymon, died April 1886, and one daughter survives him. On July 28th, 1864, he enlisted in the eleventh Minnesota Volunteers, and was honorably discharged June 26, 1865. For 18 years he has been a member of Sedgwick Post G. A. R. Ever since he left the army his health has not been good, and about seven years ago he became a confirmed invalid, and for four years has been confined to his house, suffering much until the day of his death. He was a member of the M. E. church and died in the faith. Rev. VanFossen conductrd [sic] the funeral services from the house and the remains were laid at rest in Riverside cemetery.
