Later he sold the creamery and went into the telephone business but, he got MS and had to sell the telephone interest. He put the money in the bank and the bank closed in 1929.
Norbert quit school to work on a farm to help the family out. He earned $8 per month and room and board. He eventually died from the disease.

Hennes, Lambert P.
Lambert P. Hennes was born August 25, 1878 at St. Martin, Minnesota, the son of Mathias and Eva (Lichter) Hennes.
Mathias and Eva (Lichter) Hennes were both born in Germany and made their living on a small farm later coming to America at an early date.
Mathias Hennes was born February 24, 1838 and Eva (Lichter) Hennes was born May 6, 1837.
To Mathias and Eva Hennes six children were born, Anton, Katherine, and Mary were born in Wilurath, Germany. Chistopher, May 8, 1873, Nick September 5, 1875, Lambert P., August 25, 1877.
Lambert P. received his schooling in St. Martin and worked at various trades.
In the year of 1904 Lambert P. came to Richmond and purchased the creamery which then stood on the site their present home is not located.
In 1905, Lambert married Katherine Lutgen of St. Nicholas. After his marriage Lambert lived in a few rooms that were built on to the creamery. A few years later this building creamery and all were burned to the ground.
Lambert then built the Torah Creamery and operated it for several years. He sold this creamery to the Richmond co-operative creamery association which at present is still operating successfully. After selling the creamery Lambert entered into partnership with Joseph Schwankel in the telephone business, but was forced to reture due to ill health.
To Lambert and Katherine (Lutgen) Hennes eight children were born, Norbert N. Hennes October 9, 1907 wirking in California, Coletta M., April 1, 1909, Valarian J., June 14, 1910; Herbin T. april 13, 1913; James C. February 21, 1914; Oswald C. born December 8, 1915 is deceased. Harold J., born July 6, 1917; Sexenue A., born Befruary 23, 1921. There are three grandchildren.
Lambert P. held the office as councilman and Recorder in the village of Richmond for seventeen years. He also was a member of the Richmond Fire Department and an active member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.
On December 20, 1928 Lambert P. Hennes died at Richmond.
Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Saturday December 22, 1928 in the St. Peter and Paul church, and interment made in the Catholic cemetery at Richmond, Minnesota.
Lambert P. Hennes was widely and favorably known and always active in village and fraternal affairs.
Mrs. Lambert Hennes is still living in their home at Richmond.

Lambert P. Hennes Died This Morning
PROMINENT MAN IS RELIEVED OF LONG SUFFERING TO-DAY
Funeral Services will Be Held At Sts. Peter And Paul Church Saturday Morning At 10 O'Clock.
Another one of Richmond's popular and well known citizens has answered the last call, Lambert P. Hennes being relieved of long and intense suffering when his Maker called him at 3:30 this Thursday morning, Dec. 20th 1928.
Deceased was born at St. Martin Aug. 25th, 1878 and came to Richmond in 1904 having purchased the creamery, which a few years was consumed by fire. He then built the present creamery which he sold to the present owners of the Richmond Co-Opeerative Creamery Association after which he entered into partnership with Joseph Schwankl in the telephone business but was forced to reture several years later on account of ill health.
He was united in marriage in Richmond to Katherine Lutgen of St. Nicholas in 1905 and eight children were born to this union seven of whom surive as do also two brothers and one sister.
Owing to the fact that the greater part of the Reporter was printed and the balance nearly ready for the press we are compelled to hold his complete obituary over until next week. However we wish to give this information, that funeral wervices will be held at St. Peter and Paul church on Saturday Dec. 22, at 10 o'clock and no doubt it will be a largely attended funeral from the fact that Mr. Hennes was widely and favorably known and always active in village and fraternal affairs. At this time we extend heart felt sympathy to the bereaved and promise a complete obiturary in our next issue.

LAMBERT HENNES LAID TO REST ON SATURDAY DEC. 22
Took Active Part In All Affairs For Welfare Of Richmond and Also The Community
Lambert P. Hennes brief mention of whose death was made in the Reporter of last week was born at St. Marti August 25, 1878, coming to Richmond in 1904 and purchased the creamery which he operated for anumber of years. Fire destroyed the Creamery and he rebuilt in 1908 and sold the propeerty of the present creamery to the Richmond Co-operative Creamery Association after which he went into the telephone business with Joseph Schwankl as partner retiring later on account of ill health.
In 1905 he was united in marriage with Katherine Lutgen of St. Nicholas at the local church, Eight children were born to this union seven of whom with the loving wife survive, they are Norbert, Coletta, Valerian, Herbin, James, Harold and Serane. Also two brothers and one sister are left to mourn, Christ Hennes of New York City, Mrs., Theo. Schreiner of St. Nicholas and Nick of Richmond.
Lambert Hennes was active in everything for the welfare of Richmond and communtiy until about 13 years ago when he was forced to cease activities due illness. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a character member of the St. Joseph Mens Society. Through his popularity and capability he was elected councilman and later recorder which offices he held for a long period of years. He was also an active member of the fire department until he was taken ill.
Death came as a relief after a lingering illness on Thursday, Dec. 20th at 3:30 a.m. and funeral services were held at St. Peter and Paul church at 10 o'clock Saturday mornig with Requiem High Mass Rev. Father Ansgar officiating. Interment was made in the local cemetery, Rev. Father Leo officiating at the grave. The pall bearers were Walter and Leon Hennes, Alois Schreiner, Jack Lutgen, Alfred Schreiner and R.J. Ruegemer.
And thus another of our highly respected citizen has left this earth to receive his reward in the Great Beyond and all join in extending heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved.
