The Avents in Chatham Co. NC seem to be the children of
Peter's brother William, if indeed, they were all siblings as I've
read -
John who married in 1768, Joseph, Sarah who married Ragland and
Rebecca who married Cotton. If they were all siblings (not a mix of
cousins), I don't
think they were children of Peter (even though they had the same 1st
names)
since Peter's daughter Rebecca married a Senter in Cumberland Co. The
John in Chatham couldn't have been Peter's brother since he was dead
by 1756 (Thomas' will).a
1727 received land grant in Brunswick co., Va on South side of Meherrin River 1745-- Northampton NC-sold land to Richard Cross. Will written 22 apr 1760 "ofNorthampton Co., NC son, JOhn the land back of my plantation; s ons, William,Joseph, John, Thomas; dau Gilly Avent, Sarah wife of William Ragland; Rebecca Avent; brother Peter Avent; sister-in-law Ursula" Left land on Otterdam Swampby father. Had received land from in his father in old Bertie Co, NC by 1733.In 1727 received land grant in Surry Co., Va Had land on the island in the Roanoke River. src:Colonial records in NC say he was an ensign in the seventh North Carolina Regiment in 1740. 1758--Newtop Fapley to William Avent and his heirs, rights of the plantation of Thomas Avent , Jr, deceased, on the north sideof Roanoke River, not including Beaver Pond
