BRUNSWICK COUNTY, VIRGINIA - DEEDS (BOOK 6)
Indenture made the 6th day of August, 1760, between John CUMBO
and Peter AVENT, for 35 pounds, conveying 238 acres, purchased of
Joseph RIGHT and bounded as in Letters of Patent granted to the
said Joseph RIGHT dated August 1, 1745. Signed by John CUMBO
(his mark). Witnesses were David MASON, Lewis SALLOMON (his
mark), Lewis SALLOMAN, Junr. (his mark), and William AVENT.
Indenture and Memorandum of Livery of Seizin were proved in Court
on January 26, 1761, by the oaths of Lewis soloman, Lewis
SOLOMAN, Jr., and William AVENT. Deed Book 6, page 595.

Indenture made the 22nd day of June, 1761, between Joseph
STURDART and Jane, his wife, and Peter AVENT, for 37 pounds,
conveying 250 acres. Signed by Joseph STURDART (his mark) and
Jane STURDART (her mark). Names of witnesses not given.
Indenture was acknowledged in Court on June 22, 1761, by Joseph
STURDART and Jane his wife, appeared and was privately examined.

Brunswick Co. VA
James Stewart was granted 7 Aug 1761, 440 acres in Sussex County on
the
south side of Nottoway River, adjoining the lands of Peter Avent and
his
father, Timothy Ezell and Charles Stuart.

1764 ? A Senter tree has Peter's daughter Rebecca (who married a
Senter in
Cumberland Co.) born in Cumberland Co. NC?

Left land on Otterdam Swamp by father. Death by 17 feb 1780 when his
will was probated in Sussex co. [There is no will listed in Sussex Co,
VA in the Index to Virginia Wills] The following are listed in his
will: dated 2 jun 1779 prob 17 Feb 1780 bros Benjamin, John, James,
sis Elizabeth Massey, Children: William, Isham,Joseph, John, Thom as,
Sarah, Eliza (Barker), Lucy (Truelove), Mourning, Rebecca, Lucretia
(my wife's daughter) , Molly (wife) Living in Cumberland Co., NC in
1777--date of his 2nd marriage Some sources list his birth as about
1720. 10 dec 1776 Cumberland Co., NC sells to Joseph Avent (son) negro
boy and girl and household estate. (Possibly giving clear title to
property before he married Mary Tomlinson.)

In the name of God Amen I Peter Avent of No. Hampton County in the
State of No. Carolina being of Sound Memory thanks be to Almighty God
for the same: Do make & ordain this my last will & testament in
manner & form following, first I recomend my Soul to Almighty God
hoping through the merit of my blessed Saviour he will vouchsafe to
receive it, & my body the Earth to be Decently burried at the
discretion of my Executors herafter mentioned & as for what worldly
Estate it hath been pleased God to bestow on me I Dispose of in manner

Virginia money the Jointer I made her at marriage & I also leave my
wife the remainder of my Estate During her life & at her Decease to be
Equally Devided between my two youngest Daughters to them & their
heirs forever.
I Do hereby nominate & appoint Wm. Avent & Lucas Tomlinson to be my
Excs. of this my last Will & Testament. Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this Thirteen Day of May One
Thousand and Seven Hundred and Seventy nine.

Certainly Peter Avent was in the neighborhood for the 1769 marriage of
Elizabeth and Andrew.
Peter Avent (father of Elizabeth) was in the area where Old Andrew
Baker was in 1768.
