WWII Navy First Class storekeeper. He went in on the invasion of Guam and spent a little over 4 years in service.
After the Navy service he became a partner with Ben in Condon Liquor and Shoe Shop at 904 St Germain, St Cloud. In 1948 he started selling 100# popcorn bags, oil and popcorn boxes out of the basement of the liquor store.

Robert "Bob" Condon

Services celebrating the life of Robert "Bob" Condon, age 83 of Avon, will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Miller-Carlin Funeral Home Chapel in St Cloud. Burial will be in Assumption cemetery. Bob died Wednesday at the St Cloud Hospital. There will be a time for friends and family to gather from 4-8:00 PM Friday and again after 9:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home in St Cloud.
Bob was born March 18, 1925 in St Cloud to Bernard and Ethel (Yager) Condon. He graduated from Technical High School and entered the US Navy on February 11, 1943. He was a store keeper on the Island of Guam during WWII until May 11, 946. He came home and was a partener with his father, Ben, in the Condon Liquor Store until 1949. Bob married Betty Hornibrook on April 3, 1948 in Minneapolis. Together the couple started Condon Supply Company in 1949. He also ran the city of St Cloud concession stand for 10 years. He sold Dairy Queen, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Drive-In Theaters the machines they used in their business. Bob sold the company to his son, Jeff and daughter-in-law, Julie Condon. Bon retired to his fishing and wood carving. Bob and Betty moved to the lake in 1977, where he enjoyed spending his time. He was a member of Legion Post 76, VFW Post 428, 40 & 8, the Central Minnesota Wood Carvers, and the Minnesota Carousel Club.
Bob is survived by his wife, Betty, Avon; his son, Jeff, (Julie) Condon of St Cloud; sisters Betty Hennes, St Cloud; Dayle (Jerry) Roos, St Cloud; Bernadette "Nippy" (Jim) Feltl, California; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Donna Condon Becker.
