Carl Day Bailey took three years of vocational agriculture classes at Jefferson, Texas, High School. He earned the FFA Lone Star Farmer Degree in 1957 and qualified for the FFA American Farmer Degree, but was denied the award because he did not plan to become a full-time farmer.In 1965, he graduated from East Texas Baptist College with a BS degree in history and music education and began teaching in a small school in Lassater, Texas. Other teaching positions in Texas were at Raymondville, Harlingen, Eagle Lake, Hungerford, Marshall, Splendora, Tomball, Rusk, and New Summerfield.
He has been involved in many musical productions and operas, and he worked for Gray Line Tours in Houston.
He also contributed several of the Bailey family entries in Cherokee County History.
