Richard Hill was granted 100 acres on Beaver Creek, a branch of the Broad River, on 1-18-1765, in the Camden area of Craven County, SC, which is currently in Fairfield County, SC.He was granted another 50 acres, also on Beaver Creek, on 11-1-1760.

Col. William Hill is likely a relative of Richard Hill. The exact relationship is undetermined at this time, but he is possibly a nephew.Col. William Hill was b. 9-13-1741, in Ireland and d. 12-1-1816, in SC; he was married to Jane McCall; his father was John Hill; and he had a sister named Rebecca, b. c 1748; he had sons named John and Alexander.
His Find A Grave memorial #133260248 has information from his will indicating his children were Andrew, Solomon, Robert, William, Elizabeth, and Rachel; John and Alexander are not mentioned.
Col. William Hill fought (possibly with Andrew Jackson) and was wounded at the Battle of Hanging Rock in NC.
Col. William Hill was one of the first to plan attacks against the British in the Carolina area during the American Revolution.
Col. William Hill was one of the commanders of the New Acquisition Militia Regiment in York County, SC, during the American Revolution. His Hill Ironworks was destroyed on 6-15-1780, by the British, when he was left to defend it with a small number of his men.
Col. William Hill, although wounded, still was able to command his troops at the Battle of King's Mountain.
Col. William Hill's grandson, Daniel Harvey Hill, was a prominent Confederate General.
