Barbara attended a two year Secretarial Preparation course at a technical college in Urbana, Illinois, after graduating from high school; and she simultaneously began her career, working part time in the office at the local K-Mart store.After graduating from the secretarial course she worked for Illinois Public Health in Champaign, IL, as a secretary.
It was always her expressed desire to become a secretary, and she did so, becoming a professional and always securing long term employment in her chosen career field.
The office at Public Health changed the division where Barb worked to “Illinois Environmental Protection Agency,” and she worked for that office for a total of 13 years.
After moving with her husband and family to Colorado in 1985, Barb worked as a secretary for AIS, an aviation software company located in Golden, CO. She worked for them for several years until the company moved to Aurora, CO.
Barb then took a position with the Veteran’s Affairs office in Lakewood, CO.
Barb retired on 12-31- 2016, from the Veteran’s Affairs Denver Acquisition and Logistics Center, located in Golden, CO, after serving in this and other previous offices of the Veteran’s Affairs group for 26 years.
