The census records of Union County, Arkansas, establish that Mary E. Hicks, who married W.A. McKenzie, is the daughter of Henry Hicks.The 1850 census shows Mary A. E. Hicks, age 5, living in household of Henry and Mary T. Hicks.
The 1860 census shows M. A. Hicks, Female, age 14 in the same household.
The 1870 census does not show this person in the Henry Hicks household.
A McKenzie family is living a few houses from the Henry Hicks home in the 1850 and 1860 census.

W. A. McKenzie, age 21 and Miss Mary E. Hicks, age 18, were married on 10-29-1866, in Union County, Arkansas, as recorded in the Union County Marriage Records, Book C, page 15.D. A. Mullins, a Primitvie Baptist Church minister, performed the marriage.

The First National Bank of El Dorado, Arkansas, was the executor of her estate;
Her will, made 12-16-1929 in Union County, Arkansas, listed these heirs: son Hugh, children of deceased son John Henry (Aubry McKenzie and Johnnie May McKenzie Laird), daughter Mary V. McKenzie Lenahan, and husband W. A. McKenzie.
Terms appear to indicate that her husband and daughter Mary V. Lenahan are each to have $400 per month and upon the death of either of them the remainder of the estate goes to the survivor.
Upon her death all of her estate is to be sold including the mineral rights and put in a trust at the El Dorado Bank.
Note: Her father Henry Hicks owned land which was in the Smackover Oil Field and some of her estate may have included this land since the sale of mineral rights is mentioned.
