He was a man of fine character and stalwart physique and very successfulin business, acquiring large land holdings and personal property. He wasa soldier in the Revolutionary War, as were his sons, John and Jacob Agee.
This husband and wife lived together for seventy-five years. Their homewas a meeting place for preaching services for many years, and BishopAsbury, the first Methodist Bishop from England to the neighborhoodpreached there. Inasmuch as there were several marriages between theBonduranats and this line of Agees, we give here the genealogy in brief,of the Bondurands leading up to the time of these marriages. Jean Pierre(John peter) Bondurand was born near Lyons, France. To avoid religious persecution he left France, went to Germany, then to England, then toVirginia. He had issue, Ann Bondurand, who married James Ford; they hadissue, Mary Elizabeth Ford, who married JAMES AGEE. James Pierre Bondurand had other issur, John Bondurand, who had issue, John Bondurant,Jr., who had issue, Rev. Thomas Bondurant, who married Rhoda AGEE. They had issue, Thomas Bondurant, who married Mary AGEE. John Bondurant, Jr.,had other issue, Darby Bondurant, who married Ruth AGEE. Records of the above will be considered later in this Record.
