Thomas Plummer

(Feb 1778 - 25 Jan 1851)

Thomas was taxed in Mason County from 1799 thru 1806 and with the formation of Lewis County, his home fell within bounds, it being along Cabin Creek. The 1812 tax list notes that he has removed to Ohio. From Miami County, Ohio, Shelby County was created in 1819 and in that year he appeared on the tax list of Loramie Township.
For $200 Thomas Plummer #11860 sold 80 acres in Mercer County Ohio to Judge William Leigh executor to John Randolph of Charlotte County, Virginia, on 2 June 1846. A man of great accomplishment and even greater wealth, Randolph's 1833 will gave freedom to 383 slaves & provision for resettlement and land in Ohio. 3,200 acres were bought in Mercer County for their benefit, however an unsympathetic community prevented their taking possession upon arrival in 1846. The Randolph Slaves were then assimilated into Shelby & Miami County, Ohio, communities. (Deed Book 2, Deed #L-390) Page 61 Book by Winkelman & Honeyman.
