Dorothy Brookes
(Bef 1753 - )
Possible child of Thomas Brookes according to Leigh Brooks. Her marriage to Thomas Flippin took place in 1769; making her a bit too old to be a child of Thomas. Then since Thomas's son of the same name, married Dorothy's daughter, Jenny, Dorothy certainly wasn't Thomas's daughter. Much more likely Dorothy was his younger sister.

April Court 1790
The following record is ambiguous but still establishes the ties between Gloucester Co VA and Caswell Co NC for the Brookes family:
Power of Attorney. Henry Flipping [sic], orphan of Thomas Flipping late of Gloucester Co VA, chose Thomas Brooks Senr as his guardian and appointed by court of Caswell, appoints trusty friend Thomas Brooks Junr his lawful attorney to demand and receive from the estate of Thomas Flipping dec'd in Gloucester Co VA, all negroes, money, etc. due to said orphan. 20 Apr 1790.
[Sen and Jun are often written so much alike that they are indistinguishable which I believe happened in this abstract. Both Thomas Brookes Senr and Junr were living in 1790.]
