Mr. Benny Hays, 63, of Jonesboro, Ark., the former owner of Hays Groceries and owner of Dishmasters Satellite Company and Prime Star, died Friday, August 28, 1998 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Blytheville, Ark., he was a member of the First Christian Church of Jonesboro and The Christian Men's Fellowship. Mr. Hays directed the choir at the Osceola First Christian Church of 25 years, was a member of the Osceola School Board and Booster Club, member of the Jonesboro Rotary Cub and founder of the grade school football league in Osceola. He was also a recruiter and supporter of Arkansas State University football, as well as the ASU Indian Club.
Mr. Hays leaves his wife, Peggy Hays, of Jonesboro; Two daughters: Marianne Hays of Jonesboro, and Shari Hays of Little Rock; Two sons: Johnny Oldman Jr. of Jonesboro and Mark Oldman of Bay, Ark; His mother, Ardanene Hays of Blytheville; and One sister, Sissi Black, of Osceola.
Funeral services for Mr. Hays were held at 11:00 a.m., August 31, 1998 at the First Christian Church in Blytheville with Dr. Tommy Carney and the Rev. J.R. McElhannon officiating.
Burial was at the Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville with Langford's Funeral Service of Jonesboro in charge.
Pallbearers were Jim Poindexter, Robert Hanna, Elroy Brown, Johnathan Adams, Grover Cooper and Jerry Muckensturm.
Honorary pallbearers were Art Boudeucias, Bo Fairley, T.C. Razer, Jan Raider and Worth Gibson.
