I spent a lot of time in Van Buren and on the farm of Paul Hays. I am a little younger than Jo Etta. My dtr has me doing her ancestry, since she has no time.


Obituary
Billye Jean Hopkins, 82, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 30, 2012.
Billye was born in Van Buren, Arkansas, on May 11, 1930, to William Othello Lockhart and Reba Elizabeth (Hays) Lockhart. After graduating from Sand Springs High School, Billye married her sweetheart Harold Dean Hopkins in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on February 14, 1949. Together they enjoyed a beautiful marriage of 61 years before Harold Dean's death in April of 2010. Quilting at the church and being with her beloved family occupied much of Billye's time. Being a librarian for the Tulsa City/County was a job that Billye was passionate about. Storytelling and reading to the children at the Pratt and Page Memorial libraries in Sand Springs and throughout Tulsa County thrilled her. Besides attending some college courses and receiving several awards for her accomplishments and service, Billye knew and was known by all the other employees of the library system in Tulsa and Tulsa County, and was loved by many patrons who Billye took superior individual and personal care of their literary needs. The memories will remain forever in the minds of her grandchildren and the children at the libraries of the many story hours and summer reading programs conducted throughout the years. She was an active member of the Olivet Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Billye will be greatly missed by her family, many friends, and her beloved Sunday School Class.
Preceding Billye in death were her parents William and Reba Lockhart and her husband Harold Dean Hopkins.
She is survived by daughters Reba Ludiker and husband Larry of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Debbie Pitts and husband Tim of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; sons Dean Hopkins and wife Sherry of Homer, Louisiana, and Chris Hopkins and wife Katherine of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; brother The Rev. Ronald Lockhart and wife Sandra of Malvern, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Lindsay Crutchfield, Lezlie Robbins, Bradley Pitts, Julie Cochran, Michael Hopkins, Jeannie David, Matthew Hopkins, and Christin Lowrance; nephew Ronald Lockhart, Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren; many loving other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Billye will be Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olivet Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Rev. Dave Morrow will officiate. Interment will follow in the Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Visitation for Billye will be Tuesday, July 31, 2012, from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and Wednesday, August 1, 2012, from 8:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.Condolences may be sent to the family at www.mobley-dodsonfuneralservice.com.Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service of Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
