Whitaker had at least six land tracts recorded in Frankfort KY. From the Diary of Lashly Wood: "started in a Keel Boat to Kentucky with William Whitaker, James & Robert Lucas, Ninian Edwards and the Breathitt Family - but while in the Ohio River, winter came on and they remained ...at the mouth of the Scioto River until the Spring of 1796 and then came on to Kentucky and Nelson County."
