Have found no indication his middle name was "Quin" except from Paul Morton.
Served in Co. C, Clark's Regt. of the MO Infantry as a Corporal. (CSA). Later changed to the Federal Army. According to a descendant, he enlisted in the 15th Kansas Cavalry Volunteers and participated in raids on Crawford Co.
Found in "History of Crawford County" p.297: in a remembrance of the Civil War, is the statement "Some time in the late summer of 1864, Jess Morton, with a number of others came to this community for the purpose of capturing Frank Whitehead, Frank Oliver and others" [Whitehead, Oliver were Rebel bushwhackers]
Listed in the 1860 Census, next to his father. He was age 22, Elvira, age 15.
