Willie Richmond Holderness

(18 Aug 1877 - 20 Mar 1963)

Fort Worth Gazette. (Fort Worth, Tex.), Vol. 19, No. 176, Ed. 1, Monday, May 20, 1895
Sulphur Springs
Mrs. Bob Holderness and Miss Willie Holderness of Black Jack spent Wednesday with their sister, Mrs. John Russell.

Letter from Willie to Bettie dated 20 Aug 1906 doesn't mention husband or children. She was living in Cumby at that time. She did mention a visit from Eddie & Lynna which I assume to be the cousins Eddie Russell, daughter of Rebecca, and Lynna Holderness, daughter of Robert - they were close to the same age. Also mentions that Mr. Pickens had "failed" - this was the husband of Cordova Haden who had likely failed in his business.

Both Willie and Mr. Wright were still living 26 May 1941 - letter from sister Jennie to sister Bettie mentioned them both. Mrs. C. H. Wright attended the funeral of Elizabeth Holderness Haden in Ladonia on 1 Aug 1950.

...Mr. and Mrs. Wright were married in Cumbie, Tex. in 1897 [1898] and came to Madill 48 years ago. They first made their home at Oakland, moving here when Madill became a town. They have watched growth of the city from the first building erected on the Madill square. Mr. Wright was in the lumber business here 27 years and later in the garage, gasoline and oil businesses. Their present home of West Tishomingo was built in 1913.
