Mr. Marlowe Mims' Long Life Comes to a Close
Mr. Marlowe Mims, the well known veteran of Caswell County, died last night at the home of his niece, Mrs. Mary Dunn, on Green Street, at the ripe age of 97, after a life of usefulness.....A week or two ago, however her broke down under the weight of years and he gradually sank, life passing from him passively and painlessly.
Mr. Mims was born, raised and lived all of this life in one section of the country, in Caswell, not far from Park Springs.llHe was a well known figure through Caswell, being, it is said, one of the oldest, if not the olest, resident of that county. In Danville he also well known, frequently visiting his niece. He was never married, but he is survived by a great number of nephews, nieces and great nieces.
He was one fo the few living men who fought in the Mexican War. He was too old for active service in the Civil War, but this did not deter him from serving the Southland, for he became attached to the commisary department of the Confederate government....
The remains were today taken on the 10:45 o'clock train to Reidsville where interment will be made on the plot of his nephew, John Mims. - Danville Bee, 6th inst.

The funeral and burial services were conducted by Reidsville Lodge No. 484 A. F. and A. M., assisted by Rev. W. E. Abernethy.
The following Confedate veterans in full unitorm acted a pall bearers: Adjutant P. H. Williamson, Capt. A. E. Walters, Capt. E. G. Harris, Liet. W. D. Hightower, Private R. H. Hall and Lt. J. F. Dixon.
