Funeral services for Mrs. Daniel Rich who died of pneumonia at the home of her daughter, Mr. Bertha R. Pendergraft, in Bucklin, will be held tomorrow morning at 11 o'clock in the Cottonwood Friends Church. The casket will be open at Hardcastle & Kenyon's undertaking rooms from 9 to 10 o'clock tomorrow morning.

Mary Hammer was the daughter of Aaron and Mary Neal Hammer, and was born October 10, 1840, in Green County, Tenn. In 1860 she went with her parents to Leavenworth County, Kansas, where her father died. Two years later Mrs. Hammer and the children came to Lyon County and settled near Emporia. Miss Hammer taught in some of the early established schools in Lyon County and for several years in the Kaw and Shawnee Indian mission schools. On February 22, 1866, she was married to Daniel Rich, the father of four children by a former marriage. To them were born eight children, five of whom are living. Albert died in infancy, Alfred U. Rich died in 1916 and Mrs. Elizabeth Curt in 1912. Surviving her are four sons and a daughter: Stacy B. Rich, Emporia; J.F. Rich, Larned; Irwin S. Rich, Kansas City, Mo.; D.C. Rich, Omaha, Ne.; and Mrs. Bertha R. Pendergraft, Bucklin; two sisters, Mrs. Catharine H. Osborn, of Washington; and Mrs, Rebecca Stout, Emporia; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
