Oscar Vail, Ill 3 days, Dies
Oscar M. Vail, 1005 South Low Street, died at St. Joseph'e Hospital Saturday afternoon after an illness of three days. He underwent an operation Friday.
Mr. Vail was born on a farm near Macomb, Sep 20, 1890. When he was a small boy he moved with his parents to a farm near Beardstown. He worked for the CB&Q railroad at Beardstown, and in 1923 he moved to Bloomington and worked in the Chicago Alton Railroad car department. For a number of years he operated a coal and ice business in Bloomington. For the last year and one half he had worked in the wheel and axle shop at the Alton.
On Nov. 17, 1914, he married Miss Alma Merritt. She survives, with three children: Clifford H., 703 S. Evans Street; Dorothy M., Wahington, D.C. and William L., at home.
Also surviving are one grandson, Ronald Lee Vail, a brother Raymond Vail of Beardstown and numerous other relatives.
The body was removed to the Beck Memorial Home, where friends may call. Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm Monday with the Rev. Richard I. Stone of Park Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery.
