Originally placed as son of Laughlin Flynn & Elizabeth Wright - but with a birth as 24 Dec 1781. However FAR FLUNG FLYNNS states James Flinn was the 2nd child of Hezekiah and Mary, born 24 Dec 1791, died 14 Dec 1861. Married to Elizabeth Spear, dau of Nancy Spear, 1 Mar 1816. Elizabeth died 11 Dec 1844.

Note: Mary Lakey, mother of James, was first married to Thomas Elliot - they lived on Forbish Creek, and according to FamilySearch had a son John - the witnesses may have been half-brothers.
This marriage is from the NC Marriage Bonds, dated 1 Mar 1816, and the bond was made in Surry Co. Oswell Phillips was Bondsman (see tax record for 1816). On 23 Nov 1816, James returned the favor and was bondsman for Ozwell Phillips and Elizabeth Bolling.
A John Flynn also married Mary Spier, Bond dated 10 May 1820, Surry Co, Jesse Fleming was Bondsman.

An entry on FamilySearch.org mentions a Bible record for James Flinn that gave his mother's death date - since his children are entered with specific dates, it is likely they also came from this Bible. I have not been able to locate it.
