Sally FRYE

(Abt 1795 - )

A Frye Puzzle:
In his Will, James Frye named a daughter as Sally Elliott - no daughter is known to have been called Sarah or Sally, and there was no mention of a daughter Mary married to a Smyer, although she is usually placed in the family. However there is a Bourbon County Marriage, for Sally Frye to Reason Elliott, 10 Sep 1820. If she had previously been married she would have been a Smyer. Obviously two different ladies although some have tried to come up with a "Mary Sally".

The marriage Bond date 9 Sep 1820 was signed by Rezin Elliott and Abraham Fry (probably her brother since her father had departed for Missouri). They were married by M. Wood.

Mary "Polly" Frye, b. about 1776 in Maryland, married Phillip Smizer (though the Bourbon Co records have him as Smyer) 13 Dec 1794, Bourbon Co. She may be the daughter of John Frye & Margaret Boyd and apparently a completely different family.
