He was born Aug 7, 1957 in The Dalles to Thomas O. and Lola Maurer Moore. He grew up in Tygh Valley.
He enjoyed sports while in Tygh Valley Grade School and was selected at age 13 to plan on the Babe Ruth All Stars. He played football, basketball and baseball for Wasco County Union High, graduating in 1976.
